Deliverables : Change Manual for Organizational Design Strategy

I was independent consulting designer for Knowledge platform design study at Stora Enso Building and Living Business Area - this extended into an organizational transformation design with best practices, benchmarks and a radical approach to applying design thinking mindset into the transformational processes of an ancient organization.

My task was to make a proposal of common platform where common information needs would be easily accessed. Their information needs were in Finance, Business intelligence, customer and market information and marketing Communication.

From planned questionnaires and deeper interviews with selected persons, the data for analysis were isolated. Some of the studies involved scenario based learnings and paper prototyping. Also deep literature research in Design thinking was done to reflect the analysis.

Final project was in introducing solutions for communicating and interaction in knowledge sharing, through a new vision document called "REMEDIATIONS", as well as Scenario Building.

Stora Enso Building and Living is one of three main units within STORA ENSO Oy, also known as the world's oldest corporation. Business is based in wood-based innovations and solutions for everyday living and housing needs. Building and Living has more than twenty production units in Europe and operates globally, with its main markets in Europe| the Middle East and North Africa, and Asia Pacific.

KNOWLEDGE PLATFORM STUDY REPORT & Remediations

Remediations:
The "remediations" organizational hand book was designed as a "boundary object" that could be referred to at all time by any employee of the organization. The design was carried out based on a SEMI STRUCTURED questionnaire sent to around 40 employees in the entire Build & Living section of the organization. Key research areas used for analytical framework included Activity Theory, Cybernetics and many design research documents covering vital areas for self diagnosis such as organizational information culture, systems and archetypes.

Organizational product solutions toward knowledge management were designed and categorized within following categories: 1. Holism Driven, 2. Timeline Driven, 3. Process Driven, 4. Scenario Driven, 5. Network Driven

Knowledge Platform Key roles:
Gathering key insights across different levels in organizations, from global strategy leaders to floor level management.
Leading a knowledge platform project as a "design project" and contributing to creative renewal of strategic processes in the firm.
As a part of an interdisciplinary team, working between business intelligence, marketing R & D and management profiles throughout project lifetime.
Heuristic evaluation of their enterprise legacy systems and their usability issues (intranet, chat softwares & outlook express) and smooth integration into agile project management environments (Podio).
My design masters thesis was a deeper analysis of the above project.
Overview of timeline, process, network, scenario and process driven checklists for the MNC to aid transformation
